LK Medical was founded in 2012 by Leif Köldal, who continues to lead the company with a clear vision: to deliver high-quality services in both clinical trials and medical training, with flexibility, reliability, and a personal touch. Leif has 30+ years of experience as a registered nurse, working mostly in intensive care units with focus on heart related complications.
From our base in Stockholm, we operate from Ystad in the south to Boden in the north—bringing our expertise directly to where it’s needed most. Over the years, we have supported numerous international pharmaceutical companies and CROs, adapting quickly to the needs of both sponsors and study participants.
We are especially proud of the critical role we played during the COVID-19 pandemic. While much of the world came to a halt, we helped ensure that vital research on diseases beyond COVID-19 could continue. By conducting home visits, we allowed patients who were unable to visit hospitals to stay involved in ongoing studies — safely and seamlessly.

A few words about our founder and CEO. Leif Köldal is a registered nurse with more than 30 years of experience, mainly working in cardiology. For the past 10+ years, he’s also been involved in clinical trials as a coordinator, helping studies run smoothly and supporting participants throughout the process. Since 2012, Leif has been the CEO of LK Medical, a company focused on home visits for clinical research. With his strong background in both hands-on nursing and research, Leif brings a unique mix of care, knowledge, and practical know-how to every project he’s part of.
